QUILTED SNEAKERS

Yes. You can make your own pair of sneakers. Bring your quilt sandwich from which you'll cut the sneaker components and leave with one completed sneaker and the knowledge to complete the other at home. We'll show you all the steps!

SNEAKER KIT MUST BE PURCHASE IN CONJUNCTION FOR THIS CLASS. 

CLASS PARTICIPANTS MUST HAVE PURCHASED THE SNEAKER KIT PRIOR TO CLASS.
IF YOU DO NOT CURRENTLY HAVE A SNEAKER KIT, PLEASE CONTACT THE STORE BY JUNE 22ND TO ORDER. DEADLINE FOR SNEAKER KIT ORDER IS JUNE 22ND.

CLASS SUPPLIES TO BRING TO CLASS ALONG WITH YOUR SNEAKER KIT:
* Fabric for your shoes - These shoes require 2 fat quarters of coordinating fabric. If making the high tops or are wanting to fussy cut your pattern, we recommend sizing up your fabric to a 24" x 24" in order to be able to cut out your shoes and tongue from the same piece - or you can quilt a separate 12" x 12" piece for just the tongues. You're welcome to get creative here and make your tongue out of completely different fabric too. (SEE HOMEWORK REQUIREMENTS BELOW)
* 2 yds precut and ironed bias binding cut a 1.75" wide; folded in half, wrong sides together.
* Stiletto
* Scissors, 
* Clips or pins for sewing binding
* Fabric marking pen or pencil
* Fray Check
* Sewing Machine
* Matching thread for binding
* Thimble (Highly recommended)
* Hand sewing needle

Bring to class all materials needed to sew the shoes - fabric, sharp fabric shears, matching thread, all parts of your machine, clips, marking tools that will show up on your fabric, and a ready-to-have fun attitude. Paper scissors and a rotary cutter can be handy. Don't forget a seam ripper. 

Homework:
Prior to class you should adhere woven interfacing (SF101 or equivalent) to the wrong size of your outer fabric if making the high top version. Next you'll precut your Soft & Stable to the size of your fabric pieces and then quilt your exterior fabric to your soft & stable. Do not quilt the lining fabric! Your shoes will have topstitching on them, so bring the thread you used for quilting or a fun-colored thread to use for the top stitching.
